Clear Directive - Move!

Elisha and the Widow's Oil
2 Kings 4:1-7 - A Prophetic Perspective

2 Kings 4:3-4
3 Then he said, "Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors - empty vessels; do not gather just a few. 4 And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones." NKJV

In any directive given to us from God, there is a MOVING by faith from one place toanother. MOVE! Step out from a current position which limits your vision. MOVE! Come away into a place that will expand your vision to see a way out from your current position. See the Way, Jesus Christ and just follow. Don't question! Don't debate! Don't analyze! When it is God, move! Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith, and He moves us, one step at a time, away from lack into abundance. He has promised to give us an abundant life! Now! Obey Him!

Elisha tells her to borrow empty vessels, many empty vessels. He obviously learned from his mentor, Elijah, to call forth something so impossible that without God we would fail. Empty vessels? That reminds me of when Elijah said to "Pour water on it!" when he was on Mount Carmel. (I Kings 18) Elijah obeyed God when the situation seemed impossible. Yet God came down in power and fire fell upon the altar and the people knew it was God. So it is with this widow and Elisha. Elisha knew his place. Give God's directives explicitly and clearly so that all seems so impossible in man's eyes. Yet in that impossibility, God will come through and make His name glorious in our midst.

So Elisha gave a directive that took faith for the woman to follow. Faith directives move us out in obedience upon the reality that God is an ever present help in times of trouble. He is our rock and our salvation. He is our fortress and our strong tower. How could she see this unless she obeyed and moved out on what seemed ridiculous? In obedience, she obeyed and the wheels of heaven started working on her behalf to bring forth her miracle. Obey!

"Borrow as many vessels as you can. Empty vessels!"

Totally empty vessels going into an empty house of an almost empty woman. It will be all God!

Something from nothing in the midst of nowhere. That is our God! He is glorious in split second timing with absolute authority to rock our world and shake our position in the natural so that we may enter a new realm of faith and authority in Him! How glorious is that!

Heb 11:5-6
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. NKJV

The stage is set. The cast is ready. The equation will be fulfilled.

One prophet + One empty woman + Two sons + Many empty vessels

What that does equal - God's miraculous provision!

Selah.
