Sound the Trumpets in Antarctica
December 17 – 24, 2016

What a challenge! What an adventure! What a privilege! After 7 years and over 100 missions in 80 countries, this „last“ region wouldn’t be anything special – one could think. Totally wrong! It was and is unique and breaks up every accustomed framework! What made this region so special for us?
– In every other region on earth I can buy a plane ticket as a private person, can book accommodations and can set out.
This is not true of the Antarctic region. You can get there only in the form of an expedition, that is, only through a few specialized providers and only with a group. There are no hotels, no guest houses, no youth hostels – no lodgings or restaurants.
– In every other region of the world (including Greenland) we had contacts and relationships with Christians who planned and carried out the meetings with us.
In the Antarctic there are no cities or villages, thus no Christian congregations, either. There are only individual research stations belonging to different nations. But they are not always used and open.
– In every region a person blew the trumpets with me.
In this sense the Antarctic „belongs“ to no nation, to no one at all except of course the Lord (Ps. 24:1). So there was no one who could blow the trumpet with me.

All of this makes it special, but when God calls, equips and sends he also paves the way and sees to it that HIS will can be done! Already at the beginning of 2016 God gave us the impression that we should blow the trumpets on King George Island. We knew that there at the Russian station the southernmost church in the world stands. That’s where we wanted/had to go!
Already when we began gathering information, planning and preparing we had a big surprise. Through our son, who is on the Abraham team and works for a travel agent, we wrote to two Antarctic travel companies. For over a month we heard nothing from one of them. The other offered a one-day flight from Punta Arenas (Chile) to King George Island, with a 4-hour stop there including a visit to the Russian station. We were beginning to think we would take this offer and made a temporary reservation. But they required at least 4 and at the most 6 persons. Several others were also interested in joining us.
At the last minute the other company contacted us, after all, offering a combined ship/plane trip. That sounded considerably more interesting than just a flight – and for nearly the same price! There was only one problem: Time was running out and there was only one free double cabin on the ship for a somewhat (haha) „affordable“ price. The next higher price class would cost almost twice as much. We had to decide very quickly.
Jonas was one of those who had expressed interest in joining us. On all the other trips my wife Regula was with me, in addition to further team members or believers. Although Regula had always come along, she had the impression that this time Jonas and I should travel alone. She would remain at home, with a heavy heart, but convinced that it was God’s will. I had quite a problem with this idea even though I was of course also very happy that Jonas wanted to come. This was in spite of the fact that he had to overcome several hindrances… (unpaid vacation, postponement of military info day).
Then God reminded me of a  word Regula gave me early in 2016 for the year; it helped me and gave me clarity at this time. We booked the cabin for Jonas and myself. Then we explained the circumstances to all the others who were interested and informed them that they could not join us. We were able to cancel the pre-reservations at the other company without any consequences. Jonas’ hindrances were of course overcome and there was nothing else to prevent him from going with me. So we flew from Zürich to Ushuaia, where we arrived in the morning after 36 hours and 3 plane changes. In the afternoon we boarded the ship on which we would spend the following 4 days and nights, along with about 60 other passengers.

The ship took us through the Drake Passage with a stop and landing at Puerto Williams. The following stop was Cape Horn, which I hadn’t realized is an island. It even has a small chapel with a cross and 3 Bibles! I read Psalm 24 out loud from the German version!
It was fascinating to see how God led and encouraged us through his word.
In Isaiah 42:4 we read „He will not grow faint or be discouraged till he has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands wait for his law.” We where on the way to bring the coastlands (islands) Gods law! Wow! This touched me deeply. They also have to hear the trumpets.
The day before we planned to blow the trumpets God gave us this verse, „See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut“ (Rev. 3:8). What a promise! We had asked the expedition leader if we could go inside the church, since that was the reason for our trip. He promised to speak with his Russian friends and was confident that the church would be open. Following our Lord’s promise, we didn’t doubt this in the least!

I stand with Jonas in the little Russian-Orthodox church – which of course was open. We pray and blow the trumpets. Father and son! Two generations. By now we had realized that Jonas had to join me for this reason. Here from this unreal, raw, beautiful, wild and most remote place on earth we blow the trumpets in the spirit of Elijah and thus pray the last verses of the Old Testament: „See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse“ (Malachi 4:5-6).
After blowing the trumpets twice a man suddenly appears and said we weren’t allowed to do that here. It was a place for prayer, not for music. I apologize and try to explain that what we’re doing is a form of prayer. I  quote a few Bible verses to back this up but he remains obstinate. So we have to/are able to blow the trumpets the third time outside the church. We see it as a prophetic sign that God’s message must ultimately be carried out beyond the churches! Here we also pray Ps. 24:1 and bless Israel and the Jews from this pace at the end of the world. We pray for God to gather his people right here in the south.

We have actually done it! I didn’t even experience a particular, impressive, emotional firework during or following the trumpet call at this place. It was very sober. No heavy burden fell off. No great euphoria. But a deep, humble and marvelling gratitude filled us.
We also had daily opportunities during meals to speak with the other participants and staff, explaining why we made this trip. This of course generated questions and led to good conversations. Thank you Jesus!
„Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession“ (Ps. 2:8).

Jag har tidigare här på bloggen berättat om Werner och Regula Woiwode från Abraham ministries, Schweiz som fått i uppdrag att blåsa en larmsignal i silvertrumpeterna, först i alla länder i Europa och sedan från alla kontinenter i världen.

Vi behöver skärpa vår andliga hörsel och lyssna in den signal som gått och går ut i det andliga, ta till oss det budskap silvertrumpeterna förmedlar och vakna upp ur vår andliga slummer. Och vi behöver ännu mer fokuserat lyssna in och agera på Guds tilltal precis som Woiwodes har gjort på detta enastående sätt.

Do not refuse Him who speaks (to you)!

Hebrews 12:25

„Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your deeds complete in the sight of my God. Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; obey it, and repent“ (Rev. 3:2-3).

BELOVED BRETHREN,

God’s word is timeless, i.e. it is valid for all times. But some of HIS words receive special weight when they are spoken into specific, pre-ordained periods of time in order to encourage, warn, prepare and if necessary to turn around; such a word also indicates the consequences of neglecting it. The „wake-up“ tour through all of Switzerland’s cantons is the conclusion of a trip through the 50 European countries and every continent on earth where the message and the trumpets were heard in the north, south, east and west. And time wise it lies right between the wake-up in the Arctic region (Greenland in August) and the Antarctic (King George Island (in December). I find it noteworthy that this world-wide wake-up takes place in exactly seven years (beginning of 2010 to the end of 2016). Seven is the number of completeness or perfection. We hadn’t planned this but God apparently did.

What have we experienced thus far and what have we learned?

First we determine that we began the wake-up call here in Switzerland in 2010. We went to the four language regions to inform Jesus’ body, to sensitize and motivate to join this wake-up call. Did this succeed? Yes and no. Yes, as far as individual brothers and sisters in various countries and regions of Europe and the world joined us.

Yes, certainly in the area of financial responsibility. God promised us in the beginning that we should not lay a financial burden on anyone anywhere in the world. HE promised that all the funds would come from Jesus’ body in Switzerland. We experienced this literally in every place. Halleluiah and THANKS to all of you who shared in this!

No, in the sense that we wished for far more prayer support from brothers and sisters, that they had inquired how people reacted to God’s call, and had joined us in the world’s countries and regions.

Switzerland was the first country on earth in which God „made the effort“ to make the message and the trumpets heard in every canton! In the meantime we heard that HE has done the same in the USA and Asia. This once again gives us the realization and conviction that God truly gave a special calling to the members of HIS body in Switzerland. Namely the ministry of watchmen! He did not give this world-wide wake-up call in America, China, India, Brazil, England or Germany but in small, politically unimportant Switzerland! What do we conclude from this? That our little country should have a key role in God’s plans for Israel and the world.

There are few who hear God’s call and respond to it, including here in Switzerland. This can’t be otherwise when many of God’s people are sleeping, disobedient, have divided hearts, and are led astray or about to die (see verse above). Nevertheless, there were people everywhere who responded to God’s appeal with tears, sighing and repentance. Both visibly and in the spiritual realm. There was also criticism, usually in written form. That’s O.K., one may have a different view of these things! And we all have to learn to be genuine before one another in truth. A good beginning!

We experienced God’s protection. Thousands of kilometers without accident or illness. We always arrived punctually at the meeting places. God provided for us in every way. The spirit of the Lord was and is on us! How else would it have been possible to preach this message over 100 times (whether to three or to hundreds of persons) as if it had been the first and only time?!?! We experienced wonderful welcomes and acceptance, for example when the alliance president and several pastors officially welcomed us. Not only us as persons, but also the prophetic message we brought. What a blessing for this region or nation! But it was unfortunately an exception. In other regions and nations the pastors weren’t even willing to make the wake-up meetings known in their congregations. We do not write this bitterly but see it as an expression of God’s own diagnosis of the ill condition of HIS body. Not in vain did HE say, „My body is in an emergency situation. It has members who are mortally ill! It has members who are dead, blind, deaf, asleep, lukewarm, rebellious, disobedient; who love their lives more than ME!“  He does not want this situation to continue! He wants to awaken, heal, restore. He wants HIS body to function properly, doing what HE as the head says!

The variety of landscapes, but especially of languages and cultures are not just beautiful for the eye and the ear. They can be sensed in the spirit, as well. They contain a large spiritual potential for blessing. God has commanded HIS blessing where brethren are together in unity (in spite of variety), Ps. 133. But this is therefore also an entry for Satan to work. His most urgent goal is to prevent this unity. We have seen how different the strength respectively the weakness of the members of Jesus’ body is in the various region and nations. We urgently need one another! The stronger should care for the weaker, helping, supporting and encouraging them. But in order to do this we must all learn again to discern in the spirit. What is from the Lord – and where do we co-operate with the enemy? Where do we react on the basis of wounds or envy? Where walls between us must be corn down without fear of what could happen…There are things we can simply no longer tolerate! This requires humility and good will on both sides. God will! Let us also will! Among ourselves in Switzerland (and any other nation) but also and above all  together regarding our Jewish brethren (Rom. 11:8). There is MUCH to catch up on here! If we are not linked with the root, all „our“ unity will be useless. In this area we often encountered lack of understanding, lack of knowledge, and blindness. But God speaks clearly for example in Eph. 2:15-19. When we return to the first love, get to know HIM better and deeper and return to HIS word, when we believe as the Scripture says, then we will also understand our roots!

We are not discouraged, frustrated or hopeless. On the contrary! As we know, God brings the dead to life! Just because of that we are on the way. Let us continue to pray, more intensively then ever, for ears which hear what the Spirit says and for the willingness to practice what we hear!

Det här är den tusende bloggposten sedan jag startade bloggen i mars 2007. Jag kände att detta inlägg skulle ha anknytning till Israel och nederst finns ett par bilder på Europas största Hannukah-ljusstake vid Brandenburger Tor i Berlin för några dagar sedan.

Det första ljuset tändes den 16 december vilket du kan se i videoklippet.


och det åttonde ljuset tändes den 23 december. Ljuständningen var ett initiativ av Jüdisches Bildungszentrum Chabad Berlin med officiella deltagare:    

"First candles of the Hanukkah Menorah at Brandenburg Gate were lit by Rabbi Yehuda Teichtal, Thomas de Maiziere, German Federal Minister of the Interior, Major of Berlin Michael Muller, and the Ambassador of Israel in Germany Yakov Hadas-Handelsman."

Att Europas största Hannukah-ljusstake tändes just i  Berlin blir med tanke på andra världskrigets fasor symboliskt för mig. Och även med tanke på den antisemitism som finns i Europa idag.
Den stora, tända ljusstaken blir för mig på något sätt ett hoppfullt tecken att ljuset lyser i mörkret, och ljuset kommer alltid att övervinna det!

There is a beautiful prayer in the Bible that captures the essence of God's will for us to be an influence, and to enlarge our influence on earth, for His glory and for His Kingdom. In I Chronicles 4, Jabez asks God to enlarge his sphere of influence to be more effective in His Kingdom.

The ICEJ has prayed this prayer, and like Jabez, our prayers have been answered by heaven, allowing us to be an influence and make a difference among the people in Israel. The ICEJ's Haifa Home for Holocaust survivors is one such example of a project the Lord has given us that is not only changing lives, but impacting many Israelis with our acts of kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity.

But, we want to do more, to enlarge the work and expand the Haifa home to help more survivors in need. To do this, a further $500,000 is now needed.

Yom Ha'atzmaut

Idag firas i Israel Yom Ha'atzmaut, Israel's Independence Day. Det är Israels 64:e födelsedag. Vi gratulerar och ber om Guds välsignelse över landet och folket!

Så här skriver en messiansk pastor i Israel i ett bönebrev, fritt översatt: 

"Vi vill gratulera alla våra vänner som ber och tror på Guds plan för Israel med denna nations 64:e födelsedag! Idag firar vi Israels självständighetsdag.

"Gläd er med Jerusalem, fröjda er med henne, alla ni som har henne kär. Jubla högt med henne, alla ni som har sörjt över henne." (Jesaja 66:10)

En dag för 64 år sedan, år 1948, förändrades historien för alltid när himlen berörde jorden och Guds ord skedde och profetian i Jesaja 66:8 uppfylldes - "Vem har hört något sådant, vem har sett något liknande?
Kan ett land komma till liv på en enda dag,
eller ett folk födas på en enda gång,
eftersom Sion föder sina barn redan när födslovåndan börjar? "

På den historiska dagen, blev det judiska folkets 200-åriga ​​dröm en realitet - att återvända till Sion och återställa nationen Israel. Men vad som är betydligt viktigare och glädjande för de troende som känner till Bibeln, är att vi inser att det var uppfyllandet av gamla bibliska profetior, som talade om hur Gud själv kommer att samla upp folk och föra dem tillbaka till Sitt land.

" Därför skall du säga: Så säger Herren, HERREN: Jag skall samla er från folken och föra er tillbaka från de länder dit ni har blivit kringspridda, och jag skall ge er Israels land." (Hesekiel 11:17)

Nu ber vi och väntar otåligt på uppfyllandet av den andra delen av profetiorna som talar om omvändelse av nationen Israel och deras återvändande till Gud och Yeshua, deras Messias.

" Jag skall ge dem ett och samma hjärta, och en ny ande skall jag lägga i deras bröst. Jag skall ta bort stenhjärtat ur deras kropp och ge dem ett hjärta av kött, 20 för att de skall vandra efter mina stadgar och hålla mina bud och följa dem. De skall vara mitt folk, och jag skall vara deras Gud" (Hesekiel 11:19-20)"

Hoppfullt tecken

När jag var ute i trädgården igår så fick jag plötsligt se något märkligt. En helt frisk rosenknopp! Vi bor visserligen i en del av Sverige där det inte är som kallast, men den senaste tiden har det ändå varit ganska mycket snö, runt -5 garder på nätterna och ett par grader kallt på dagarna. Att denna rosenknopp kunnat överleva och se helt fräsch ut i denna kyla!

För mig blev det dock ett mycket hoppfullt tecken i en besvärlig situation och ett tecken på att mitt i allt som verkar vara fruset så finns det spirande liv. Herren har allt i sin hand och finns där med sitt liv även då omständigheterna ser besvärliga ut. Jag hoppas bilden kan ge dig samma uppmuntran och hopp!

ps. Jag gick och funderade på vad den där rosen heter och kom på att den heter "the Pilgrim". För mig blev det namnet ännu mer talande i den situation som var!

Hälsning till bedjare i Sverige

HÄLSNING TILL BEDJARE I SVERIGE

Man blir glad varje gång man får höra om nya böneinitiativ från olika håll i landet eller själv få se det med egna ögon. I helgen hade min fru och jag förmånen att vara i Markaryd och gladdes där åt det djupa ekumeniska samarbetet där, bl.a. omkring bön. Den här veckan inbjuder man t.ex. till "24-7 bön" med alla kyrkor.

Jonas Bergsten skickade oss en glädjande rapport från bönearbetet i Bergslagen och Värmland. Han nämnde särskilt om en bönesamling i Årjäng, där svenska och norska bedjare mötts. Han refererade också till att alla kyrkor i Lindesberg för första gången denna höst mötts till "Bergslagsbön". Jonas skriver: "Psalm 133 beskriver hur trossyskon är i enhet, och psalmen avslutas med dessa ord som jag tycker blir så starka i den engelska översättningen (KJV) "….for there the LORD commanded the life, even life for evermore". Tänk när vi ödmjukar oss inför Gud tillsammans, på den platsen befaller Gud sin välsignelse!"

Från Ockelbo berättar man om hur man en gång i månaden samlas ekumeniskt till "Bön för Ockelbo". Där har man planerat bönekvällarna samtidigt som kommunalfullmäktige har sina möten. Igår kväll hade jag tillfälle att vara med på en samling i Södertälje, där man bad för staden och här i Stockholm planerar vi för ekumeniska bönesamlingar vecka 3 nästa år, då vi besöker varandras kyrkor och deras bönesamlingar. Och – för att sluta där jag började – i Markaryd samlas man också en gång i månaden i kommunalhuset för att be för sin kommun. Som Jonas skrev: "Tänk när vi ödmjukar oss inför Gud tillsammans, på den platsen befaller Gud sin välsignelse!"

Med nedanstående profetiska tilltal och orden i Jesaja kapitel 61 samt Jesaja 60:1-5 vill jag önska dig en fridfull jul och ett välsignat nytt år! Ett år som jag ser fram emot med stor förväntan, för jag tror det kommer att bli ett år då
Herrens ljus kommer att lysa som aldrig förr. Det ljuset kommer både att avslöja det som är orättfärdigt, men i de renade kärlen kommer också Hans härlighet att kunna lysa igenom på ett mycket starkt sätt!
Nu blir det ett uppehåll över jul och ev. nyår, men jag hoppas du återkommer till bloggen efter helgerna.
