I am your God who calms your storms. Come to me, let me give you stability and strength. Look to me and I will steady your feet and give you direction in the storm.'

A good friend of mine wisely describes the day in which we live: “The Age of Distraction.” I asked God for further insight on this topic because distractions have become a raging battle, not only for me, but also for many in the Body of Christ. While I’ve addressed how distractions keep us from hearing the Holy Spirit in previous posts and in both of my books, would you believe I have been too distracted to sit with the Lord long enough to hear what He has to say about this pressing matter? Woe is me!

Determined to gain deeper revelation on the matter, I got out my journal and wrote, “The Age of Distraction,” and then wrestled to quiet myself. Unfortunately, not even a minute passed before something took my focus away from seeking the Lord! While there are many legitimate issues that crop up and demand our immediate attention, this was not one of those times. As it happened, I looked out my window, as I often do while journaling, and a beautiful Eastern Bluebird flew up and landed on my newly planted basket of violas. The brilliance of the sun lit his vibrant blue feathers and brick-red chest, and the light electrified the array of purple flowers. Together they were an explosion of spring colors and a joy to behold! I hurried into the kitchen to get my camera and suddenly realized that THIS is what the Holy Spirit was teaching and wanted me to understand about distractions!

We may be aware that wicked powers and principalities use all sorts of distractions to keep us from God’s best, but we also need to be on the lookout for good things that can usurp God’s will for our lives. There’s a time to grab the camera and capture a lovely photo of God’s creation, but we can’t allow such beauties to steal our focus away from the Creator of that beauty! As Jesus said, “Wisdom is justified by her children.”

Looking at this subject anew, I believe this onslaught of distractions keep the Body of Christ from consulting the Lord, studying His Word, and being faithful in prayer and service. By design, the enemy of our soul uses all sorts of distractions to dull our spiritual senses. We must learn to wait patiently on the Lord, and then move only in His timing. If He tarries, may we be wise and tarry with Him, but when He says to “GO” then we must GO!

Father God, in Jesus’ mighty name, we ask that You help us to see distractions for what they are. Please teach us to keep our eyes upon You. We pray for Your will to be done in us, and that we will recognize when something is diverting our attention from seeking Your face. Amen

Gör rätt prioriteringar

Psalm 90:12
Lär oss att räkna våra dagar, och lär oss förstå hur korta de är. Hjälp oss att använda dem på bästa sätt. Nya Levande Bibeln (SVL)

Vad betyder det, ”att räkna våra dagar”? Låt mig få ställa en annan fråga först. Om jag skulle fråga dig: ”Vad i livet tycker du är svårast att hantera på rätt sätt? Vad är det du upplever att du inte har tillräckligt av?” Vad skulle du svara?

Du kanske tänker pengar, men min erfarenhet visar att det är något annat som är mycket svårare att hantera än pengar, något som jag mycket oftare har ont om än pengar, och det är tid. Jag tror att tid är det som är allra svårast att hantera rätt i våra liv. Jag tror att frågan om hur vi förvaltar vår tid kanske är det avgörande testet på lydnad och verklig kristendom. Därför ber jag som psalmförfattaren: Lär mig att räkna mina dagar rätt. Lär mig att göra rätt prioriteringar, lär mig att avsätta tillräckligt med tid till det som är allra viktigast.

Du förstår, hur du prioriterar din tid visar vad som är viktigt i ditt liv. Saker som har låg prioritet blir förmodligen aldrig gjorda. Om du inte prioriterar de områden som verkligen är viktiga i ditt liv, så kommer ditt liv att vara i oordning. Därför behöver du, precis som jag, be den där bönen: Lär mig att räkna mina dagar rätt, lär mig att prioritera rätt, lär mig att hantera tiden.

A Wrestle in a Winepress, Part 1 –  your Lion Bites word for today

Many of you have been like Gideon in the winepress threshing wheat – doing the wrong thing in the wrong place, filled with worry and fear about the future. But God is coming to you now to wrestle fear out of your heart and to call you to do great and mighty things with what He has put into your hands.

God is unravelling the fear that has been wrapped around you as false armour and removing every spirit of anxiety that makes you feel ‘less than’. He’s coming down into your own personal winepress – the place of your hiding – and He’s starting to speak great and mighty words over you. These words carry deliverance and courage and as you hear them you will receive freedom and strength for the task ahead.

The angel of the Lord came and sat down under the oak in Ophrah that belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, where his son Gideon was threshing wheat in a winepress to keep it from the Midianites. When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.”

Judges 6:15

“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”

With fear gone, many of you are looking in your hands and feeling like Gideon did – ‘I don’t have enough to do anything of significance!’. But God speaks to you like He did to Gideon, He calls you a mighty warrior and gives to you a miracle of doing much with little.

God is stretching what is in your hands – for some, there are miracles of multiplication coming to you. He’s enabling you to do way more than is humanly possible with the resources He has given you, whether that be money, skills, products or ideas. Don’t run around like Gideon did trying to build the biggest army. Instead, let God refine you down to the size and capacity He needs you to be and leave a huge God-gap in your life for Him to pull through with the miraculous.

Receive the miracle of doing much with little, the miracles of stretching and multiplication. Look at your hands from God’s perspective and see the enormous amount of transformation the little is about to create.

The LORD said to Gideon, “With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands. Let all the others go home.”

As God starts to send you out to do much with your little, many of you feel as though you lack revelation and reassurance of the path ahead. Rest assured, just as God gave a dream through a man to strengthen Gideon, so there is revelation coming to you in many different forms to help kickstart your new adventure.

God is meeting you as you sleep and as you rise – whether it be a gentle whisper in your ear, an ‘aha!’ moment or an all-consuming vision, He’s coming to speak to your heart. This revelation will bring not just strategy for the road ahead, but the strength to press on and do what God is telling you to do. These revelations carry edification and direction, courage and vision and as you receive them, know that God’s got your back and He’ll have it the whole way as you follow His voice.

Pay attention to the voice of God in the many different ways it’ll come to you – let scripture jump off the page, dreams stir your heart, God-thoughts strengthen your inner man and visions bring direction. Turn your ear to hear the God that is already communicating with you.

When Gideon came, behold, a man was telling a dream to his comrade. And he said, “Behold, I dreamed a dream, and behold, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian and came to the tent and struck it so that it fell and turned it upside down, so that the tent lay flat.” And his comrade answered, “This is no other than the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel; God has given into his hand Midian and all the camp.”

As soon as Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, he worshiped. And he returned to the camp of Israel and said, “Arise, for the Lord has given the host of Midian into your hand.”

If the body of Christ in Sweden will stand in a united prayer, we can open the way for a government to be established that will fear God and let us live a peace filled life.

1 Timothy 2:2 says: Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, andgiving of thanks be made for all men, 2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.

Du prövade oss, Gud, Du luttrade oss som man luttrar silver. SFB15
Se, jag har luttrat dig, men inte fått något silver. Jag har prövat dig i lidandets ugn. SFB15

En sak som Bibeln undervisar oss tydligt om är att Gud prövar sitt folk. En jämförelse som Skriften många gångar använder är att Gud prövar oss på samma sätt som silversmeden luttrar silver. På Bibelns tid gjorde man så att man la silver i en metallbehållare och hettade upp det så mycket man kunde över elden. Allt eftersom silvret smälte och började bubbla i värmen så kom slagg, skum och föroreningar upp till ytan och silversmeden skummade av det. Han fortsatte ända tills det inte fanns några föroreningar kvar i silvret. Det avgörande testet var att han kunde se ner på silverytan och se sin egen spegelbild utan förvrängningar.
Det är på det sättet som Gud prövar oss i lidandets ugn. Ju hetare ugnen är desto mer föroreningar kommer upp till ytan. Och i sin nåd skummar Han av dem med sin stora himmelska hålslev. Han fortsätter att skumma av med hålsleven tills Han ser sin egen bild avspegla sig i våra liv. Och då vet Han att luttringsprocessen har lyckats och tar oss ut ur smältugnen.

When we accept this deep within, joy arises… we realize the battle is already won… praise and thanksgiving flow from our lips, and His rest replaces our weariness – this is often a simple act of faith.

I saw a wooden boat turned upside down on the shoreline of a frozen lake, and the Lord said, "You have been beached for a season.  The environment has been harsh and you have been relatively sidelined, but the time is near for you to launch out on the waters of My Spirit and do what you have been called to do.  You will begin to navigate life in a way that will fulfill your destiny and be rewarding at the same time."  

Psalm 20:4 May He grant you according to your heart's desire, and fulfill all your purpose.

Tillsammans!

No more independence –  your Lion Bites word for today

 
God is reminding His people today that He does not desire us to be independent. God has not called anyone to live an isolated or disconnected life instead, He has called us to be dependent first on Him and then on one another. God is saying ‘I made you to be interdependent; to support and to be supported. If one falls down, I have ensured that another will be there to pick them back up. Don’t fear asking for help. Learn to love interdependence.’

Ecclesiastes 4 v 9-12
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

I saw a powerful move of the Holy Spirit upon hearts that was not only bringing an awakening but a fire within their hearts that saw them suddenly rise up out of the things that have tried to hold them down and take their ground, and they began to roar 'YOU CANNOT HAVE MY GROUND'.

I saw the fire of the Holy Spirit falling powerfully upon those who have faced tremendous opposition in gaining movement and momentum in the territory and new season God has released them into.

Vi hamnar alla i svårigheter av olika slag, men vi kan hantera dem olika. Vi kan välja att se oss som offer, men vi kan också välja att se på oss själva som övervinnare. Vad du väljer kommer att ha betydelse för din möjlighet att tjäna Gud.

When you meet people, greet them with joy unspeakable and full of glory. Greet them with My love, greet them with My peace. I Am with you. I Am for you, and I will not allow the pain of this world to attach itself to you. I will wash you with My Word. You are will be – you are cleansed. Walk knowing you are clean in Me.
